Designer John Vickers reveals how Solace was sensitively reimagined for family life and a multi-year global voyage, without losing the spirit that first defined her.
In October 2025, the 57-metre Feadship superyacht Solace, originally delivered in 2005 under the name Twizzle was relaunched at Pendennis in Falmouth. The 12-month refit at the
British shipyard, overseen by the team at JMS, saw the yacht extended by two metres, a comprehensive interior redesign that restored her original elegance and a substantial systems
overhaul. Together, these upgrades have prepared Solace, which made her official debut at the Antigua Charter Show in December 2025, for a family-orientated global tour planned by
her new owner. To understand how the project evolved into a full-scale refit, we sat down with John Vickers, founder of Vickers Studio, to explore the thinking behind the project
and the details that have set Solace on course for her next chapter.Honouring a legacy

In a market increasingly defined by rising build costs and limited pedigree opportunities, the 29-metre La Joie de Mer presents a rare proposition: a Jongert sailing yacht that
combines Dutch build quality with a notably strong performance profile. Built in 2005 to a design by Tony Castro, she stands apart for her sleek, elegant lines with a more
contemporary aesthetic compared to earlier Jongert models, and for a specification originally conceived with performance in mind, including competitive Corinthian and Bucket-style
racing. At her core, La Joie de Mer reflects a design philosophy centred on seaworthiness, comfort, long-range capability and, crucially, enhanced sailing performance: qualities
that remain highly relevant in today’s brokerage landscape.A proven bluewater platform with enhanced sailing performance
Designed as a true sailing yacht, La Joie de Mer benefits from a Castro-penned hull that has been further optimised through an upgraded keel configuration, a modification that

For experienced yacht owners, the journey from one vessel to the next is rarely defined by simple upgrade logic. Instead, it is shaped by evolving expectations, refined preferences

Despite a backdrop of geopolitical tension and economic uncertainty, the United States continues to assert itself as the dominant force in the global superyacht market. Insights
from Barrett Wright of Hill Robinson and Alastair Callender of Moravia Yachting USA, part of the Hill Robinson Group, reveal a market defined less by contraction than by evolution
– shaped by more informed buyers, shifting demographics and a growing demand for transparency.Confidence amid uncertainty
While uncertainty remains a defining feature of the global landscape, the upper tiers of the market appear largely insulated. “There is a lot of uncertainty right now given the
current administration’s policies,” explains Barrett Wright, “but overall those policies have benefitted the ultra-wealthy.”
This resilience is reflected in transactional activity. Wright notes that “the US is where the market lies as far as transactions are concerned,” with February 2026 sales
surpassing January, according to Boat International.
From a brokerage perspective, Alastair Callender reinforces this position:
