According to an article recently published in the The Fraser Magazine, superyacht owners the Bosarge family have listed the 54.86 metre sailing yacht Marie up for sale with the brokerage company. Once sold, the keen sailing family aim to build another, larger sailing yacht from scratch, utilising the knowledge and experience gained from the build of Marie.<img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/152644/image/large-5ffcf89c5b10596cb045c7803c64123e.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/152644">Launched by the Dutch shipyard Vitters in 2010, Marie’s designs were first sketched by owner Dr. Ed Bosarge in 2007 before a contract being signed with the shipyard the following year. With Bosarge’s heavy involvement in the creation of Marie - having designed her, as well as being involved in the build and going on to cruise, charter and race her - The Fraser Magazine report that the future vessel will be a more substantial and decidedly faster evolution of Marie.<img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/152645/image/large-f2a55f887359fdd12c0c80b57fba074a.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/152645">Bosarge further explains his intentions with the new project, saying, “I am very happy with Marie’s style, she is the ultimate classic yacht. I want to build a yacht with similar characteristics, but a little longer with room for a gym, and with a lifting, rather than fixed, keel to allow her access to Over Yonder Cay and other shallow anchorages.” Over Yonder Cay is the Bosarge’s sustainable island resort in the Bahamas, inspired by the disdain the family personally felt as a result of the detrimental effects to ocean caused by human activities.Owner’s to another famous racing yacht that has much experience on the regatta scene, the 34.93 sloop Tenacious, the family’s passion for racing will continue with their impending project, being built as a fast ketch and using the same build team Marie enjoyed. Bosarge further explains this decision to stick with the Vitters team, stating, “We will absolutely work with the same team again, especially the yard. Feadship superyacht Virginian off Monaco

The Delfeayo Marsalis Jazz Band of New Orleans and the philanthropic Divas World Productions, from Houston, Texas – “devoted to enriching lives by the integration of artists and audiences as well as music and thought” – provided memorable entertainment over cocktails and dinner, in fine company, at Marie’s christening at the IYCA quay, Antibes in September. <img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/132642/image/large-1968711de39e59cbcc98933d7ac38b54.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/132642">Marie’s namesake deftly smashed the Champagne bottle, after toasts to Neptune and the Gods of the winds, while her creative team – along with Fraser Yachts who are Marie’s central agents for charter – were rewarded with antique weapons: • Builders – Vitters Shipyard • Owner’s construction managers – MCM • Designer (exterior &amp; interior) &amp; naval architect – Hoek Design • Interior designer &amp; decorator – David Easton • Interior fitters – De Ruiter <img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/132643/image/large-ec48808ed62db09ff5ba2f18174826cd.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/132643">And finally, one of the ship’s antique cannon (there are some two tonnes of antique weaponry aboard) was fired, with a very loud bang, to mark the end of the awards. <a href="#managed-by-application" data-legacy="true" data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/2411">Marie</a> has a classic profile that belies a modern underwater hull – an evolution and lighter version of the award-winning Adele. Her lightweight black, carbon-fibre rig from Southern Spars, supported by Future Fibres PBO rigging, sports an in-boom, roller-reefing system for both mainsail and mizzen. The interior is lighter too (in both structure and colour) contributing to significant improvements in speed and righting moment. The powerful black, aluminium hull, built to ABS and MCA, quickly accelerates to up to 17 knots in 20 knots breeze. <a href="#managed-by-application" data-legacy="true" data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/2411">Marie’s</a> interior was built around a baby grand piano that was installed in the lower saloon before the deckhouse ‘soft patch’ was closed. The main deckhouse extends well forward of the upper saloon giving plenty of light right through to the lower saloon. The contemporary interior has Anigre panels and is complemented by a truly fine collection of antique weapons and maritime art. Two twin guest cabins flank the corridor leading to the master cabin aft (there is also a VIP double forward, opposite the formal dining room). The master can also be entered via its own private deck saloon-cum-office – itself with direct access to and from the owner’s aft cockpit. <img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/132644/image/large-942704d9062d169c68b24f083d0f85e4.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/132644">Twin wheels, with optional direct steering for ‘feel’, are positioned forward of the owner’s deckhouse at the rear of the spacious main guest cockpit, protected by a permanent bimini top (with overhead windows to view the 1,445 square metres of North Sails). Guests can find plenty of spots to relax from the comfortable benches outboard of the cockpit to the expansive teak foredeck. Marie’s long profile has a strong sheer line and low freeboard. Traditional looks, combined with a bright and airy interior, assure her appeal will hold for decades. Her mainmast benefits from a crow’s nest that ascends guests up a dizzying 35 metres. Vitters latest sailing yacht Marie christened

Following her launch and the stepping of her masts the latest superyacht from the Dutch Vitters shipyard, the black hulled ketch Marie, is getting ready for her sea trials. Marie, a sister ship to the award-winning sailing yacht Adele, has been designed by Hoek Design who together with the New York based designer David Easton also designed the interior. <img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/131977/image/large-e7c1dfc547d2d7e5835de0cb6e7288cc.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/131977"><a href="#managed-by-application" data-legacy="true" data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/2411">Marie</a> has been built to ABS classification and MCA specifications. Vitters sailing yacht Marie ready for sea trials

Hoek Design in the Netherlands has announced the signing of a contract for a sister vessel to the triple award-winning sailing yacht Adele. The 180 ft ketch Marie will have an identical hull, keel, rudder and sail plan to Adele but features a new and entirely customised interior and deck layout. She will be built at Vitters Shipyard and is due to be launched in the spring of 2010. <img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/124691/image/large-b24caa082799d8a4bfd8627e2acc3a16.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/124691">The fabulous looks and sensational performance of <a href="#managed-by-application" data-legacy="true" data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/1842">Adele</a> has already inspired the owners of the 174 ft sloop <a href="#managed-by-application" data-legacy="true" data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/149">Erica 12</a> (currently under construction at Vitters) and the 204 ft schooner <a href="#managed-by-application" data-legacy="true" data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/21">Athos</a> (currently under construction at Holland Jachtbouw). On <a href="#managed-by-application" data-legacy="true" data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/2411">Marie</a>, the main deckhouse will be enlarged and there will be no forward deckhouse. This allows the entire deck and interior layout to be tailored to the owner’s taste and requirements. An extensive weight saving programme will be implemented with composite rigging, high modulus carbon spars, furling booms and lightweight interiors improving an already outstanding performance even further. The hull will be constructed in Alustar to ABS and MCA specifications. Marie's interior will also be designed by Hoek Design and features the renowned privacy concept developed by the office for Adele and successfully deployed on four other mega sailing yachts. The aft owner’s cabin is directly connected to an owner’s deckhouse and aft cockpit with the helms forward of the owner’s deckhouse. The interior design will be further arranged in partnership with David Easton in New York, who will take care of the interior decoration of Marie. Lightweight raised and fielded Anigre panels will offer a bright and light style. Nigel Ingram of MCM Marine Construction Management will act as the owner’s representative. Marie is the fourth Hoek Design yacht of 180 ft or above to have gone from design to construction. She will also be the fifth superyacht from the Hoek Design office to be built by Vitters.
