She began life in 1978 as the 166-foot Seattle-based crabber Fierce Contender. “In 2007, she was purchased with the idea of converting her into a support yacht,” shared Captain Tony. “The goal was to carry helicopters, smaller boats, and toys – everything from jet skis and e-foils to kitesurfing gear, kayaks, paddleboards, and ski boats.”Under the vision of Stan Antrim and designer <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/868" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Joseph Artese Design (Company)">Joseph Artese</a>, <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/2673" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="SuRi63.4m (208'0&quot;)Halter Marine1978">SuRi</a>’s original pilothouse was preserved, while the freeboard was raised and large windows were added. Blending function and luxury, this project set a new standard for shadow yacht conversions. “The conversion worked out really well, turning <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/2673" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="SuRi63.4m (208'0&quot;)Halter Marine1978">SuRi</a> into a versatile yacht with everything you need for water sports,” attested Captain Tony.<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/344127/image/large-739034e0746c5a71e40e381b19397870.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/344127">“In 2011, the owners decided to convert her further, adding cabins and transforming her into a fully fledged yacht,” recounted Captain Tony, who was working on <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/2673" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="SuRi63.4m (208'0&quot;)Halter Marine1978">SuRi</a> at the time. “We cut her in half and extended her by 11 metres. The new midsection, including glass windows offering views of the ocean floor, was added. The ‘Windows to the Sea’ is one of my favourite features.” <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/2619" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Bay Ship and Yacht Co. Take Patagonia, for example: you can have fun with all the water sports and still sit up here, cruising through fjords and enjoying the breathtaking scenery. It gives us the space to showcase everything we have. The yacht, which began her life as an offshore support vessel, has undergone several transformations, the most notable being her conversion into a superyacht in 2007 and a significant refit in 2016. (Company)">Swiftships</a> in Louisiana, USA, under the name Candy Trader. She sailed under that name until 2003, when she was sold and renamed Hos Trader.&nbsp;Very little is known about her trading pattern or when she was decommissioned, but in 2015, her name was changed to Danah Voyager and work began on an intensive conversion in Dania Cut, Florida. The 67m superyacht Global in Monaco 

Currently being wrapped up in Dania Cut, Florida in preparation of an intensive conversion project is the 90 metre vessel known before as Danah Voyager. The project now known simply as Voyager became the largest vessel to head up the Dania cut-off canal outside Fort Lauderdale when she was towed from Louisiana to Florida where she will be completed as the largest superyacht conversion project in the U.S.A.<img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/159758/image/large-2bdb37357d736f16835752937742c5ed.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/159758"> The vessel started life at ship builder Swiftship in 1997 when she was built as the offshore supply vessel HOS Trader for Hornbeck Offshore Services. In recent months naval architecture firm Kirilloff &amp; Associates have been working together with designer Rafael Ochoa in the redesign of the vessel into a luxury ocean going explorer yacht.<img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/159759/image/large-bb179820939f169b248dcb31f4eabcb6.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/159759"> <img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/159760/image/large-27ca1c8e935b0cddd540ab0b3b2ad858.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/159760"> A considerable amount of structure has been added with her hull length also having been extended by 12 metres to the current length of around 90 metres. These changes were undertaken at Leevac Shipyard in Louisiana. The aft section of the vessel will ultimately house a raised helicopter landing platform with generous storage for landing and water craft on main deck. 90m Voyager under conversion in Florida

Following her sale to her current owner in 2014, the 86 metre Lürssen superyacht Quattroelle made her way to Dubai where her home berth is now located. Since then she received a new cruising partner in the form of a 56 metre support yacht. Having previously supported the 50 metre Trinity superyacht Sapphire, the toy, staff and provision-carrying vessel Red Sapphire Shadow is now known as Quattroelle Shadow.

Quattroelle Shadow was built in the U.S.A. by VT Halter Marine in 1981 to a rugged and functional design by Kirilloff &amp; Associates. She started out as Marsea Twelve serving as an offshore supply vessel, but in recent years has spent her life as a yacht support vessel thanks to her generous deck spaces, dive support and exceptional sea keeping capabilities.

Support yacht Quatroelle Shadow joins 86m Lürssen Quattroelle

Bay Ship and Yacht Co. (BSY) located in Alameda, California in collaboration with naval architects Kirilloff and Associates of Green Cove springs, Florida, and Jeffrey Botwin of Herringbone Design of Los Angeles, California have been awarded the contract to lengthen the expedition yacht SuRi by adding a 11 metre mid-body hull and superstructure plug for a new overall length of 63.4 metre. <img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/136978/image/large-3ac79120625197befe20582068cb1e1e.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/136978">The Sun Deck will be extended aft 24 feet to allow for the owner’s new alfresco dining area plus a complete main engine and generator renewal package. In the hull of the extension area, a new underwater viewing room will be added that will allow guests to view the ocean from the comfort of SuRi’s elegant interior. <img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/136979/image/large-66ede5bca60b8a27e547cb79417f6fa8.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/136979">BSY won the contract for this work by competing internationally against New Zealand and Australian shipyards. Since the 2008 financial crash, American super yacht refit yards have suffered severely, with far fewer projects planned, and those that did materialize mostly going to Europe. <img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/136980/image/large-62c5af92ac41aea1a4b93b27ccf43345.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/136980">BSY’s competitive spirit and its ability to perform this type of work with its skilled tradesmen and local vendor support helped win this contract. The SuRi refit will be accomplished using 99% American made products and Subcontractors, thus generating many jobs in the local economy, and is noted to be the largest yacht refit and modification project done in the United States in many years. All work will be overseen by the Ft. Lauderdale, Florida and San Francisco, California offices of Bureau Veritas, the yacht’s classification society. The SuRi is an American built hull that was converted in Seattle in 2007/2008 and is owned by an American (California) yachtsman.
