Oceanco has unveiled the first images of the 80-metre Simply Custom Project Y729 superyacht as she prepares for outfitting. This is the first time that Project Y729 has been seen
since construction began in 2023. The yacht has now been transported from Oceanco’s construction facilities in Zwijndrecht to Alblasserdam for the next stage in her build.
Project Y729 is the first yacht in the Simply Custom series which allows owners to streamline the design process of building a custom yacht, thanks to each project using the same
technical platform, while maintaining Oceanco’s pedigree.
“With Y729, we were able to utilise the readily available Simply Custom technical backbone to kickstart the project,” explained Oceanco Project Director, Erwin de Looff. “This,
combined with the owners’ deep understanding of what it takes to keep a complex project moving and to truly inspire and motivate a team, has seen the project progress at a very
fast pace.”Project Y729 features

Imagine you are anchored up in one of the world’s most remote, unspoiled, idyllic locations. Your superyacht is surrounded by pristine, blue waters and your family and friends jump
right in, bobbing around the superyacht while a beautiful lunch is being prepared onboard. The last thing you want in a moment like this is for the smell of diesel to penetrate
your nostrils or to find yourself swimming in a pool of greasy water.
That is where Dutch emission specialist Xeamos comes in. Founded in 2017, the company had a clear mission: reducing harmful emissions from (super)yachts. Building on decades of
expertise in marine engineering, Xeamos retrofits superyachts with advanced exhaust systems that cut down pollutants the likes of soot, gasoline, and noise, allowing not only for

Tankoa Yachts is entering a decisive new chapter. With a series of strategic investments, the acquisition of Otam’s facilities and brand, and a growing fleet under construction,
the Genoa-based shipyard is positioning itself for a period of measured yet meaningful expansion. Speaking with Mr. Vincenzo Poerio, we explore how these developments will shape
Tankoa’s future and reinforce its standing as one of Italy’s most distinctive boutique builders.Expanding the shipyard’s footprint
The acquisition of Otam marks a significant moment for Tankoa, forming part of a wider expansion plan launched at the beginning of 2025. The site, located immediately adjacent to
Tankoa’s existing yard, brings approximately 4,800 square-metres of indoor space, 3,300 square-metres outdoors, and nearly 10,000 square-metres of water surface into the shipyard’s
portfolio. The area already includes operational infrastructure and workshops, all set to be upgraded as part of a comprehensive redevelopment programme.Alongside the physical

As Sirena Marine prepares for a landmark year in 2026, the Turkish shipyard is readying two highly anticipated debuts that will mark a pivotal expansion of its portfolio: the
Sirena Superyachts 42M and the Sirena 118. Though both projects carry the brand’s signature DNA of craftsmanship, efficiency, and understated luxury, they diverge sharply in

Glass has become one of the defining materials of modern superyacht design. Once a purely functional element, it now shapes the aesthetic identity of contemporary vessels –
creating seamless transitions between interior and exterior, flooding spaces with natural light and offering uninterrupted views of the sea. Yet while its visual impact is
undeniable, achieving that clarity and perfection at sea is anything but simple.
Behind every flawless pane lies a complex balance of science, craftsmanship and environmental resilience. The marine environment places extreme demands on glass: constant exposure
to UV radiation, salt, moisture and temperature changes can quickly reveal weaknesses that might remain unnoticed ashore. For shipyards, designers and owners, understanding the
pitfalls of poor glass specification is therefore essential. The silent failures

During last week’s Gulf Superyacht Summit 2025, hosted by our team at the Conrad Abu Dhabi Etihad Towers, seen here in the background, the 60.96-metre superyacht Samadhi was
spotted anchored in Emirates Palace Marina. Delivered to her owners by Feadship in 2006 as April Fool, the full-displacement yacht features naval architecture and exterior design
by De Voogt, with a modern interior originally conceived by Rémi Tessier and later extensively refitted by Laura Pomponi and her team at Luxury Projects. Fresh from a substantial
refit in the Netherlands completed in 2024, Samadhi gained a new beach-club pool and spa with ice tub, updated outdoor seating and underwater lights, as well as a bridge upgrade
for polar navigation and a new Riva tender. Her modern interior sleeps 12 guests in six staterooms, with a main deck aft pool, expansive swim platform and sundeck featuring a

Spotted this Tuesday cruising in Athens, Greece, was the 110-metre superyacht Radiant. Originally commissioned as Darius and delivered by Lürssen in 2009, the full-displacement
yacht is instantly recognisable with her grey hull and muscular profile drawn by Tim Heywood, who also styled her sisters Pelorus and Al Raya. Her interiors, designed by Yabu
Pushelberg and Terence Disdale, remains largely private, adding to the yacht’s aura of discretion. Radiant offers an extensive line-up of amenities, including a beach club, cinema,
gym, elevator and deck Jacuzzi. She is also widely reported to incorporate enhanced security features, ranging from a high-speed escape tender to defensive systems more commonly
associated with military craft. Performance-wise, the superyacht is powered by twin MTU diesel engines, giving her a top speed of up to 21 knots.

Observed two weeks ago cruising in Singapore was the 51-metre expedition yacht Northern Sun. Delivered in 1976 by Narasaki Shipbuilding in Japan as the ice-class research vessel
Hokko Maru, she was extensively converted in 2008 into a long-range family expedition yacht, while retaining her go-anywhere capabilities. Today, Northern Sun pairs an azure-blue
hull and purposeful profile with a warm, classically styled interior featuring multiple saloons and antique rugs and a curated collection of artwork and nautical pieces. She
accommodates up to 12 guests in six staterooms, including a full-beam master suite, looked after by a crew of around 13. Outdoor living focuses on a private top deck with Jacuzzi
and ample space for tenders, dive gear and toys, underlining her role as a genuine explorer. Powered by twin Yanmar diesel engines, Northern Sun cruises at 10.5 knots, with a
transoceanic range of 10,000 nautical miles. She is currently for sale with Ocean Independence at

Observed at the end of September anchored here in Villefranche-sur-Mer, on the south coast of France, was the 49.06-metre classic sailing yacht Trinakria. Built in 1927 by Weiner
Werft in Austria as the training vessel Perun for the Bulgarian fisheries school, she was sold in the early 1930s to German owners, renamed Carola and converted into a luxury yacht
at Schlichting Werft in Travemünde. After the war, Trinakria passed through several owners and charter careers before undergoing an extensive refit in Morocco, completed in 2014,
that restored her to full glory while adding modern comforts. Today, the gaff-rigged, steel-hulled schooner offers vast teak decks with multiple alfresco dining areas and a raised
main saloon, accommodating up to 10 guests in five staterooms, looked after by a crew of nine.

During a week exploring Norway with Ahoy Club, the SuperYacht Times team photographed this view of the 87.58-metre explorer yacht Arctic in Nærøyfjord, Norway. Originally built in
1969 by Schichau Unterweser as a deep-sea salvage and ice-breaking tug, Arctic spent more than two decades working some of the world’s harshest waters before being sold in 1993,
renamed Arctic Research and converted into a yacht at Malta Shipyards.
